I’m thrilled to share that Becoming a Changemaker came out in paperback last week! I hope this new, more convenient format makes the book even more accessible to all.
If you haven’t already, you can grab your copy on Amazon, at B&N, or at your local bookstore.
Why the Paperback Release Matters
I’ve been so grateful for the warm reception the book has received since its initial release in 2022 (in fact most of you subscribed to the newsletter precisely because of reading it — thank you)! The book is being used in classes at 15+ universities (though never my own - I could never be that professor that assigns their own book!) but I’ve always cringed a bit at the high price of the hardcover, especially for students. I believe everyone can be a changemaker, so I’m excited for the price to drop, and accessibility to rise with this new edition.
What’s New
We’ve updated the subtitle to be “Transform Your Career, Your Community, and the World.” My publisher rejected my slightly more humble version: “…and maybe even the world,” but I still love this new language. It better articulates the levels of change discussed in the book — personal, professional, and societal — and speaks to its applicability across domains. I’m a big believer that who you are is how you lead — and I want to see everyone step into their potential as a changemaker through this book.
How You Can Help
This book is all about community. In fact the reason I wrote the book in the first place was because my students at Berkeley Haas asked me to. I’m infinitely grateful for all of the love, support, and encouragement you’ve all provided. If you want to help support the book and its inclusive message of positive change, here are two quick and meaningful ways you can help:
Get a copy for yourself, a colleague, friend, or someone else who wants to make an impact in the world. Bulk discounts are available for orders of 25+ for companies and schools (or, I guess, a super big and super-passionate family of changemakers). Quick links: Amazon, B&N, your local bookstore.
Leave a Review. Reviews make a HUGE difference in convincing strangers to go to take a chance on the book. Would you please take 2 minutes to leave a review on Amazon, Goodreads, Audible, or wherever you read buy and find books. This is a small changemaker action that has really outsized impact on the reach and potential audience of the book.

Your Turn
By far — it’s not even close — the best part of writing this book has been the opportunity to hear from and connect with incredible people like you. Now that the hardcover book has been out for 2 years, I’d love to hear from you:
What ideas from the book have most stuck with you?
How have you taken action as a changemaker as a result of the book?
What is your top goal/priority/vision right now? And how can I help you spark that change?
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being part of this wild journey of writing and releasing a book out into the world. I can’t wait to hear from you!
To Going Beyond Yourself,
Alex
